24th June 2010: QWERTY Code and New Policies Added
Due to popular demand, I am now pleased to be able to offer lectures and workshops, details of which can be found here. The Braille music section on the site has seen some changes, which you can view here, featuring an exciting new application for both sighted and non-sighted computer users, producing Braille music via a standard qwerty keyboard.
19th April 2009: Tanya's Tail and Round House Folk Overview Added
Well, the time sadly came for Kresta to retire from a working guide dog, and you can now read the whole of Kresta's Tail and meet her new coleague in Tanya's Tail. Also new on the site is an overview to my newly established folk band Round House Folk so you can meet the band and keep up-to-date with our activities.
2nd June 2008: Happy 1st Birthday purlla.com!
Yes, it's been a whole year since the launch of purlla.com and I thought we'd celebrate with a few updates! The "Braille" section in the "About Me" area has now been split into two subsections, Braille Literacy and Braille Music and there's a brand new article on Braille Music for you to read. For those of you who may never have seen (or felt!) Braille before, there's a brand new page on the Braille Alphabet with graphical representations of all the letters. Finally, my Autobiography has had an update and there have been a couple of minor visual enhancements to the site as well. I hope you've enjoyed the material that's been added over this first year and I'm sure there'll be a lot more added in the year ahead!
28th April 2008: New Piano Teacher Section and Ronald Bayfield Biography Added
In response to several recent requests, I have now begun offering piano lessons, alongside the flute, organ and Braille teaching I already provide. To that end, a new "Piano Teacher" section has been added to the "Teacher" area of the site that includes my piano teaching policies for both children and adults. Also added this week, is "A Tribute to Ronald Bayfield", a biography of a good friend of mine (in the "About Me" section) and a small update to both of my performance policies.
25th February 2008: New Angelicle and upcoming Performance Date added
Well here it is, the first update to the site for 2008! A brand new hymn entitled "Jesus Loves Me" has been added to the "Angelicles" section
of the site, so why not take a look at the words and a few notes on it's creation.
There are also details of a recital I'll be giving this coming Saturday (1st March) at St. Peter's Church, Hever, so click here to find out more. Finally, I have made a small change to all of my teaching policies to include a free consultation lesson for new students. Head over to the "Teacher" section to find all of my policies.
28th December 2007: Teaching Methodologies Section Added
This week sees the last update to the site for the year and a brand new teaching methodologies section has been added to the "Teacher" area. In this section you can read articles on the Dalcroze, Kodaly, Orff and Suzuki methods of teaching. I hope you all had a merry Christmas and that you will enjoy your new year celebrations and I look forward to continuing the development of purlla.com in 2008!
30th November 2007: Flute articles added
Four brand new articles of interest have been added to the "Flute" section in the "Teacher" area this week. They discuss the categories of flute and the different members of the flute family as well as the history and construction of the flute. Also, the "Forms Of Synaesthesia" article has been updated to include details of the newly discovered "Mirror-Touch" synaesthesia.
26th October 2007: "Angelicles" section and "Kresta's Story" updated
The "Angelicles" section has been re-vamped this week. It's been given a proper introduction and a brand new Angelicle, Rejoice, Ye Creatures Of God's Earth, has been added. Plus, each Angelicle has had notes added, so you can find out a little bit more about how and why I wrote it. Finally this week, you can catch up with what Kresta's been up to lately as Kresta's Story gets an update!
14th September 2007: Second "Braille" section added and "Autobiography" updated
This week, another brand new section on Braille has been added to the "About Me" area. So far, this new section includes an article on the History Of Braille and a discussion of Braille Scripts. My autobiography has also been updated this week to take recent events into account and so you can catch up on the last three months of my life!
24th August 2007: New "Angelicles" section added
A brand new section called Angelicles has been added to the "About Me" section this week. This is where you'll find lyrics (and eventually music) to some of the hymns I've written. Only one, You Have Me, has been added so far, but more will be included as time goes by! There has also been a bit of extra colour added to the site in the form of a couple of photographs. More will be added gradually and scattered throughout the pages!
27th July 2007: New "Performance Diary" section added
This week sees the launch of a brand new performance diary in the "Performer" section. Here, you can find details of past performances I've given and I'll also be using this section to notify you of future appearances. Make sure you check back regularly as this section will be updated periodically.
29th June 2007: New Braille section and "Instrument Rental Agreement" added
There have been a few more additions to the "Teacher" section this week. A new "Braille" section has been added which includes my teaching policies for Braille music and literacy. There is also a copy of my instrument rental agreement for you to review, should you ever need it.
22nd June 2007: New Organ section and "Kresta's Story" added
This week, the "Teacher" pages have been expanded with a brand new "Organ" section. This includes my organ teaching policies for children and adults as well as two articles on the history and construction of the pipe organ. My guide dog, Kresta, has also been given a page of her very own this week. You can now read "Kresta's Story" in the "About Me" section.
15th June 2007: New Flute section and Synaesthesia articles added
The site has been updated with some more new content for you this week, including two new pages on synaesthesia added to the "About Me" section: "Synaesthesia And The Arts" and "Synaesthesia: Further Reading". Also, the flute pages in the "Teacher" section have gotten underway this week with the addition of my flute teaching policies for both children and adults.
8th June 2007: New Synaesthesia section and Links page added
The site has had a slight, visual re-structure this week. This is mainly due to the addition of a brand new links page, which you'll find here, detailing some other websites you may find interesting. There has also been a section on synaesthesia added in the "About Me" section of the site. I am very interested in this subject, being a synaesthete myself, so I hope you'll take a look and enjoy it.
1st June 2007: Website Launched!
I'm delighted to announce that www.purlla.com has been officially launched today! I have been planning the site for many months now and am truly excited about the possibilities it offers for communicating with you all. I hope you will find it interesting and useful, there's more content planned for the very near future so I hope you'll come back regularly to visit. In the meantime, enjoy the site!
