| I have brought together the following policies regarding my work as a free lance church organist. Should you need to arrange relief for church services, or wish to discuss any issues concerning the following policies, please do not hesitate to contact me. FeesThe fees for church services, stated below, comply with the current specifications published by the Royal School of Church Music, (RSCM), the Royal College of Organists, (RCO), and the Incorporated Society of Musicians, (ISM). Payments must be made in full, either in advance of the engagement, or on arrival. This is to ensure that payments are dealt with satisfactorily, and not accidentally overlooked. Current prices:Sunday worship, £45. These prices are currently stable, but are subject to change, of which notification will be given in advance. Fees are also a matter of negotiation, such as in cases where a fee is already in place, set by the establishment; where the engagement is dedicated to a registered UK charity, or other fundraising event; but will depend on the specific requirements of the engagement. Fees do not include travel expenses, and may be charged where applicable. An additional fee will also be charged for audio and/or video recordings, requested to take place, due to performance and copyright legislations. Notice RequirementsI request between one and two weeks notice, prior to the engagement, (except in unforseen circumstances, where such notice is not possible, such as for funerals), in order for my preparation. This will allow time for having any specified music transcribed into Braille, (if not already available), to have it learnt and memorised, and to have the music sufficiently interpreted in advance of the engagement. Advance notice will also allow me to make appropriate travel arrangements. Should there be any changes to the engagement, such as musical content, time and/or location, I require to be notified immediately, in order to make the necessary amendments to my preparation. Musical RequirementsIt is essential that I receive the musical requirements in good time, should there happen to be any difficulties. This will enable me to source the specified music, and to apply it to memory as quickly as possible. Music may include hymns, psalms, and anthems, as well as Eucharistic settings, plus music before and after the service if desired. It is also possible for additional services, and other special musical events, during the Christmas and Easter periods for example, to be arranged ahead of time. A visit may be necessary, prior to the engagement, to allow for familiarization with the venue, and the organ, (or other resident instrument), to be used. This will enable me to navigate through stops and pistons, and to adjust to the general properties of the instrument, and the venue, more comfortably. Thank you for taking the time to observe these policies. Angela Purll |
